Sam Cooke is legend that is least talked about when it comes to crooners. I've been following Sam Cooke's work for almost 4 years now and have great admiration and affacuation with his work. The Man who invented Soul Singing and yodeling rifts that'll pull the panties off any church going woman was Sam Cooke. As an aspiring entertainer, my dream is to play the autobiographical Picture of Sam. I have already picked out the cast in my head, and how the movie scenes would play out.Everyone gives praise to Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Teddy Pendergrass, Al Green, James Brown, etc. but have never put Sam Cooke on the pedal stool that he belongs. I remember reading Sam's bio and the competitiveness he had with Jackie Wilson, Little Richard, and James Brown. Sam would soothe the crowd with records like "Cha Cha Cha", "What a wonderful world", and his hit record "You Send Me". Sam was one of the first African American artist to intergrate an audience, and he stood for Colored people like me. He was loved so much that when his performance on The Dick Clark Show was cut short, fans sent in fan mail that reached an all time high on Dick's show during that time.
Sam was then asked to return the following week to perform his hit record "You Send Me" and if you watch the link to this video, you'll see the magic that this Black man had on white people as well as the world at this time in the 60's. A lot young people only knew Sam for the record "A Change is gonna Come" and haven't had the chance to enjoy his music like our parents and grandparents. But please take a look in the life of this American Hero and keep his music alive
